ALPINE - The 2025 edition of The Sage, Sul Ross State University’s art and literature magazine, is now available across campus. For students, faculty, and Alpine residents, flipping open The Sage each year is a new opportunity to see the creativity of their peers in print. Being published in the magazine can be a debut for many young photographers, artists, and writers.

The Skyline staff has a long tradition of collaborating with The Sage, often sharing their talents beyond the newsroom. Alyn Covington, illustrator for the Skyline, had one of her drawings selected as the face of the 2024 and 2025 edition of The Sage. The piece was chosen from dozens of submissions spanning across all the university’s campuses.

The annual publication showcases students’ poetry, short stories, essays, photography, and artwork in both English and Spanish. This year’s edition highlights themes ranging from personal experiences and imaginative fiction to reflections on identity and culture.

Submissions for the 2026 edition of The Sage are open now until April. Students interested in being published in the upcoming issue are encouraged to submit their original writing, art, or photography for consideration.
