ALPINE - Sul Ross State University was ranked the tenth best college for its excellence as an institution by the U.S. News and World Report.

The U.S. News & World Report has acknowledged Sul Ross’ ability to provide students with a large selection of both undergraduate and graduate programs.

One category Sul Ross placed in was social mobility. As defined by the U.S. News and World Report, “Social mobility measures how effectively a university assists disadvantaged students in completing their education.” Sul Ross was ranked #52 for social mobility in the western region of the United States.

Along with its social mobility ranking, Sul Ross was recognized as a “top public university.” The small university in little ole’ Alpine, Tx., ranked #47 in that category.

What makes SRSU’s social mobility so notable is its affordability. Sul Ross’ average in-state tuition is $7,649. This benefits those who decide to pursue higher education in an affordable manner. During the 2022-2023 academic year, 971 students were granted Federal Pell Grants. And a total of $727,162 in institutional grants has been awarded to SRSU students.
